Successful Groundbreaking and Site Handover Marks Important Step for Komfo Adae Drainage Works

Winneba, 25 December 2025 –
The Effutu Municipal Assembly today celebrated a successful and memorable groundbreaking and site handover for the construction of a 10 m long, 1.2 m diameter double-pipe culvert and associated dredging works at Komfo Adae, Winneba. The ceremony brought together traditional and faith leaders, local officials and residents to witness the official notification of award and the symbolic start of works under our “Reflecting, Renewing, and Resetting” agenda.

Distinguished guests present included representatives of the Traditional Council of Effutu, the Chief Imam of Effutu, the Chairman of the Local Council of Churches, residents, the assembly member, the Urban Road Engineer and Planning Officer of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, the contractor, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who led the event. A short customary ritual marked the commencement of the project and reinforced community support for the works.

Scope and timeline

• Project: Installation of a 10 m double-pipe culvert (1.2 m diameter) and associated dredging at Komfo Adae – Winneba.
• Expected completion: within two to three months, subject to weather and site conditions.

Local benefits and employment
The MCE, who championed the project from inception, directed the contractor to employ over 70% local workers. This instruction is intended to:

• Create immediate job opportunities for residents;
• Strengthen local skills and capacity for future works;
• Keep project benefits within the community and accelerate timely completion;
• Foster a greater sense of ownership and responsibility for site upkeep.

What residents can expect
These drainage improvements are designed to reduce flooding, improve public health and safety, and protect property in Komfo Adae and surrounding areas. The Assembly asks for the cooperation of residents during construction to help ensure safe and efficient work. Periodic updates on progress will be provided by the Municipal Assembly.
