RED CROSS AND NADMO STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP TO BOLSTER DISASTER RESILIENCE IN CENTRAL REGION- Hon Kwesi Dawood Central regional Nadmo Director

​In a proactive move to enhance emergency response and community safety, the Acting Central Regional Manager of the Ghana Red Cross Society (GRCS), Mr. Mohammed Baidoo, paid a strategic working visit to the Central Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Dawood Mensah. The meeting, held at the NADMO Regional Office, focused on deepening the long-standing collaboration between the two institutions to ensure a more coordinated and efficient response to disasters across the region’s 22 Districts & the 2 Sub Metro’s.

The discussions highlighted several priority areas for the 2026 humanitarian agenda, including integrated rapid response, volunteer mobilization, data and resource sharing, climate resilience, early warning mechanisms, capacity building of staffs & volunteers, response to climate variability, efficient relief administration, resettlement of displaced victims, reduction of disaster risks & vulnerability and intensive public education on disaster prevention.

​During the visit, Mr. Mohammed Baidoo emphasized that the Red Cross remains committed to its fundamental principle of humanity, stating, “Our partnership with NADMO is the backbone of disaster management in this region. By aligning our resources and expertise, we ensure that no community is left behind when crisis strikes.” ​In response, Hon. E. K. Dawood Mensah commended the Red Cross for its unwavering support. He noted that the synergy between the government’s statutory mandate through NADMO and the volunteer-driven mission of the Red Cross is essential for achieving the region’s goal of “Zero Disaster Mortality.”

​The two leaders agreed to deepen their collaboration & coordination that will ensure quarterly review of disaster preparedness plans and to conduct periodic simulation exercises towards rapid response. This visit signals a renewed era of cooperation aimed at building a safer, more resilient Central Region. This visit comes on the heels of NADMO’s recent focus on flood preparedness, demolition of structures on water courses, handling of vehicular & canoe related accidents, etc for the 2026 agenda and it summarized as ​”Disaster management is not a solo act; it requires the synergy of all stakeholders to build a resilient community.”
